According to Sky Sports Germany, Kimmich will continue as captain of the German national team under Klopp and will return to midfield.

In the fall of 2024, Klopp's predecessor, Julian Nagelsmann, appointed Kimmich as captain. Kimmich also captained the German team in the World Cups held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, but the team performed poorly.
The 31-year-old Kimmich has made 114 appearances for the German national team, scoring 10 goals, making him the most experienced player in this squad.
Kimmich's captaincy will remain unchanged, but his position on the field will shift. Klopp wants to move him back to central midfield.
Kimmich also played this position at Bayern Munich, but he changed positions several times for the German national team. During the World Cup, except for the final stages of the Round of 32 match against Paraguay, he played as a right-back. Germany lost that match 3-4 on penalties.
Klopp said: "I hope he can fully realize his potential in the team every time, and I have no doubt about that."
