Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that Camp Nou should be the venue for the 2030 World Cup final.
"It shouldn't be Casablanca or Madrid, it should be Camp Nou," Laporta said at an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of Catalan-language football broadcasts on Catalan radio and Cadena SER. "Casablanca and Madrid are no different."
Laporta hopes to make Camp Nou a "third option" in competition with the Bernabéu and the future Hassan II Stadium. He believes the new Camp Nou, with its capacity of 105,000, should be considered by FIFA. The Bernabéu hosted the 1982 World Cup final, and having Camp Nou host the 2030 World Cup final would further enhance Barcelona's global profile.
Laporta also addressed the controversy surrounding Elche's match against Real Madrid, where some players wore jerseys that read "We are all Caballas" to express their support for Ceuta.
Speaking on the matter, Laporta said, "Regarding Ceuta, the club supports freedom of speech. We allow players to make such statements."
Laporta believes that symbols should be respected as long as they do not convey hate messages. He stated, "What happened in Elche cannot be downplayed. This means that people can naturally wave Catalan flags, the Stars, or the Barça flag. As long as it doesn't express hatred, I think it should be respected."
