According to L'Equipe, Senegal's new coach Patrick Vieira will call up Malang Sarr for the first time. The 2018 World Cup winner will announce his first squad under his leadership this Friday.

Malang Sarr had been a figure of interest for some time, but never made the Senegalese national team under coach Pape Tiau. This summer, Sarr left Lens to join Saudi club New Future City Sporting. A former French youth international, he quickly established himself as a regular starter at New Future City Sporting, beginning all eight of his first matches.

Senegal will play three matches during this international break: away against Mozambique and Ethiopia on September 25 and 29, respectively, in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers; and on Sunday, October 4, Senegal will play a friendly match against Comoros at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille.
