Alphonso Davies left out of Canada's national team roster while on his wedding and honeymoon.

Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies was not included in the Canadian national team squad, with the Football Association stating that "Captain Alphonso Davies is currently unavailable due to his wedding and subsequent honeymoon."

The Canadian national team coach explained the decision: "Alfonso originally wanted to come, and we hoped he would participate in this training camp. However, he got married shortly after the World Cup. During the World Cup, he had a lot to deal with, including physical matters. We discussed whether he could go on his honeymoon first and then come back to us."

However, Davis is not currently on the agenda. Marsh continued, "I think it's important to let him enjoy his honeymoon while continuing to improve his physical condition and form. He's playing exceptionally well right now, looks healthy, and feels great. For us, it's important to ensure he's at his best for the important matches starting in November, as well as in March and throughout the next cycle, so he's always ready to give his all for the national team."

The background is that Davies suffered another serious muscle injury after a series of injuries in early May, ruling him out of Bayern's remaining matches for the season. His World Cup participation was also initially in doubt, but he was ultimately included in the squad. However, hampered by injury, he only played one match, a 15-minute substitute appearance against South Africa in the round of 16. Davies said at the time, "After the hamstring injury, I wasn't able to play at the level I was capable of. It hurts me that I couldn't give my all when my team and country needed me most."

After the World Cup, he barely took a break, instead focusing on rehabilitation training in Munich. The results were successful: he was fully recovered by the start of the new season and has played in every match for Bayern Munich so far.

During the preseason preparations, Davis also got married: at the end of July, he exchanged vows with his fiancée, Xie Yan, at the Château de Saint-Martin-de-Tert near Paris.
