According to talkSPORT reporter Ben Jacobs, FIFA senior advisor Carlos Cordero has resigned because he strongly opposed President Gianni Infantino's FFE plan—selling World Cup shares.
In his statement, Cordero said: "As a senior advisor to the FIFA president, a former banker, and a lifelong football fan, I cannot stand idly by while FIFA considers selling its World Cup stake. Let me be clear: I have no connection to this proposal and am outright opposed to it. This is bad for FIFA member associations, bad for football, and bad for the long-term future of the sport."
The report states that Infantino has gradually lost the support of his inner circle, and Cordero's resignation is the latest sign of this trend.
