Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß criticized FIFA president Gianni Infantino, saying that Europe has the power to veto any unapproved proposal.
In an interview this Thursday, Hoeneß said: "Personally, I think Europeans don't realize their true strength. Any tournament without European participation is worthless."
He added, "Infantino would not be able to push this plan forward if Europe unites and coordinates its actions."
He concluded sarcastically, "If Infantino wants to watch the World Cup match between Fiji and Cape Verde, then let him watch it."
Hoeneß's statement comes amid growing opposition in Europe to Infantino's latest plans, the most controversial of which is the sale of a portion of the World Cup's commercial rights to private investors.
